Dr. Clevens has made several medical mission trips to Tanzania in East Africa with a group from Outreach Africa International. Outreach Africa International is a group which helps people in 14 different countries to overcome the effects of poverty. While on these medical missions, Dr. Clevens and his family witnessed a great deal of famine, neglect and poverty and they decided to make a difference by creating their own 501c3 charitable entity known as Face of Change. Dr. Clevens makes at least two trips per year to Tanzania, Israel and Eastern Africa to care for the world’s neediest and most neglected children and families who otherwise would have no access to medical care. He sets aside two to three weeks for each trip and he performs surgery for nearly 12 hours each day to correct cleft lips and palates, burns, poor wound healing, trauma and other problems. Because Dr. Clevens recognizes that there is need within our communities as well as abroad, needy children in families in both Africa and throughout Brevard County have also received over 250,000 meals from Face of Change since its inception.
